SA to set a new Guinness World Record

‘Have I gone mad?’ ‘I’m afraid so. You’re entirely bonkers. But I will tell you a secret, all the best people are.’ From Lewis Caroll’s, Alice in Wonderland.

Young and old are invited to put on their maddest hats and join the Mad Hatters’ Tea Party at the Riversands Farm Village, Rose Road, Knopjeslaagte, Midrand at 10am. A Guinness World Record will be set for the most people dressed as characters from Alice in Wonderland,, in one place, on 22 April. The Mad Hatters’ Tea Party, in aid of the Randburg SPCA, offers a trip down the rabbit hole for the whole family with human chess, a Pritt hat parade, best-dressed competition, chocolate hunt and a host of surprises.

This attempt has officially been approved by Guinness World Records and all attendees dressed up as a character from this much-loved tale will be part of setting a new record. Picnics in the Park will be donating R5 for each person in costume to the Randburg SPCA!

South Africa holds Guinness World Records for the most vuvuzela’s played simultaneously which was over 12 000, most surfers riding the same wave which was 110, most runners in an ultra-marathon which was 14 343 and now South Africa is attempting to add another record to the books.

This record has never been attempted anywhere in the world and for this attempt, the organisers are hoping that at least 3 000 crazy attendees will dress up to make history and support this worthwhile local cause. To be a part of the Guinness World Record attempt you have to register and agree to the terms and conditions.Read more |
